The City of Bellevue is taking applications for a Full-Time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic.


Job Details, Benefits, Pay:
• New position.
• Typically, M-F, day shift; but schedule flexibility may occasionally be necessarily.
• Full-time employee benefits: health insurance, IPERS, paid holidays off, life insurance, & paid vacation/sick days.
• Hourly wage dependent on certification level and experience: EMT $18-$22/hr or Paramedic $22-26/hr.

Job Duties:
• Responding to Bellevue EMS calls by providing rescue services and emergency medical care to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Bellevue Emergency Medical Services policies.
• Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls calmly, efficiently and promptly.
• Perform all job responsibilities in a manner that protects patient privacy.
• Possess and apply knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of an emergency medical technician and rescuer, in a dignified and compassionate manner.
• Possess and apply knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of a driver of ambulance equipment.
• Perform routine tasks in and around the Emergency Medical Services Facilities and grounds.
• Report to Public Safety Representative-Bellevue Police Chief.
• Perform other emergency/city department duties as needed.

Job Requirements:
• Minimum of either a high school diploma or a GED as evidence of completion of a high school education.
• Have/maintain current emergency medical technician paramedic certification or obtain paramedic certification after hiring; City will annually reimburse student loan payments after each working year if
employment with the City continues.
• The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, paramedic certification, ACLS, American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and/or American Heart Association BCLS
certification, Hazardous Materials Awareness, and other certifications as required. It is highly recommended that paramedics maintain PALS or APLS certification.
• Possess basic working knowledge of an IBM-compatible computer and be able to enter necessary data into a computer.
• Position required significant physical strength and dexterity and the ability to function in very adverse environments with exposure to safety risks typically found at emergency scenes.
• Frequency of activities: speak clearly, standing/walking, sitting, lifting/carrying (including adult patients), bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, handling, grasping, & exposure to hazards.
• Metal requirements: Handle a significant number of stressful situations and be able to function calmly, coolly, and collectedly under all types of stressful situations.
