Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Coordinates and assists with the development and creation of corporate benefits programs, including but not limited to wellness, Health Saving Accounts, medical, dental, and life insurance, COBRA, cafeteria plans, and the 401(k) plan.

Must be vaccinated against COVID-19, unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law. You must have received your first dose of COVID-19 vaccination by your first day of employment, and for two-dose COVID-19 vaccines, you must receive your second dose within thirty days of your first day of employment. Merit will consider exemption requests in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED

  1. Assists with the management and administration of benefit programs. This includes developing communications, e.g., presentations, emails, brochures, etc., to enhance employees' understanding and knowledge of benefit and wellness packages.
  2. Conducts new employee benefit orientations, annual open enrollment meetings and explains Merit's benefits packages to the full range of Merit employees, including leadership and sales.
  3. Responsible for the administration, coordination, and processing of benefits through the automated benefits tracking system.
  4. Coordinates and administers benefit programs such as the annual biometric testing, tobacco cessation program, flu shots, etc.
  5. Meets individually with employees and resolves their benefits issues.
  6. Troubleshoots data errors, retros, and refunds with Payroll.
  7. Interfaces regularly with outside benefit partners such as carriers and brokers.
  8. May provide various reports for the On-Site clinic and other internal customers.
  9. Performs other duties and tasks as required.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education equivalent to a High School diploma and six years of related benefits work experience.
  • Must be fully bilingual in Spanish (Read. write, speak).
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Prior training and presentation experience to conduct classes for all levels of employees including leadership and sales.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, and work under strict time constraints.
  • Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws pertaining to benefits administration, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and SECTION 125.
  • Ability to work overtime and/or different shifts during benefit events, as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual/Spanish verbal/written communication skills are highly preferred.
  • Microsoft Office suite computer skills: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Oracle HR tools and benefits administration systems.
