We are seeking a highly motivated, technically savvy, and customer focused Network Engineer to join their Global Network Services (GNS) team, with a focus on Event infrastructure. This is a technical, hands-on role in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Successful candidates have a mixture of technical know-how as well as certain network analysis fundamentals and troubleshooting skills.

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years in the IT, Events, and networking industry.
  • Good basic routing & switching skills & experience plus worked with OSPF & BGP routing protocols on Cisco platforms, Layer 2 switching, IP Addressing/sub-netting, and VPN solutions.
  • Must have a good understanding of WiFi fundamentals, experience with supporting WLAN environments and experience in the setup of Cisco & Meraki WiFi products.
  • Must have good network troubleshooting skills, familiar with wireless analysis tools and experienced with resolving a range of network outages.
  • Must be team player, collaborator, rapid decision maker, and have good communication skills to participate well in technical teams working through the challenge of event network buildout and operation.
  • Good organization skills, be a strong multitasker, with the ability to get going quickly in a fast-paced environment, and work in a dynamic environment while handling challenging build-outs to a strict timeline.

Ever thought about helping deliver networks for a global organization's customer-facing events team using the latest technology to deliver an outstanding user experience? The Events Network team deploys network solutions for Apple special events, helping launch Apple products and services, executive engagements, and corporate communication within remote locations and onsite at the Steve Jobs Theater. We design, deploy then support network solutions that provide attendees with detailed connectivity; live video streaming/broadcast, and live product demos. More recently, our involvement has shifted to provide video production crews with network connectivity at remote locations. Apple is seeking an Engineer to build & operate networks for events! Work with other Apple employees, partners & vendors to deploy networks for internal employee and external customer events that vary in size, type & locations across the world. It's an exciting, fast-paced environment delivering Apple events. We require a passionate person who is a self-motivated, problem solver, comfortable navigating ambiguity to enable the events organization to deliver company events. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES You will be responsible for partnering closely with your diverse team to assemble requirements and develop network solutions to enable connectivity in different functional areas globally. Successful candidates will be expected to deploy and support temporary event networks using wireless, switching, and router products using a mix of manufacturers. Responsible for setup and operation of functional areas within customer faced events that involve large numbers of attendees, press, Keynotes and internet streaming. Setup monitoring, alerting & reporting solutions to ensure network traffic awareness and insight into network failures. Be responsible for the product standards, baseline configurations, and auto provisioning process for event network hardware before shipping to ensure everything is baselined before each new event. Document to help understand what was deployed and how it was configured. Responsible for leading event hardware, inventory, packing, shipping & receiving for each event which consists of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, access points, compute, toolsets and accessories. Continue our evolving support of virtual and remote events. Testing new products to improve event network solutions capability at future customer facing events.

Education & Experience

BA/BS in Computer Science/Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience. CCNA/NP must and CCIE wireless or equivalent nice to have.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with setup, leading and automating IOS, ISO-XR, NX-OS, WLC, and JunOS.
  • Occasional travel will be required to assist with global events.
