Job Description

Position Summary:

We are looking for an Engineering manager to lead the development of Cloud-based software for Industrial Automation. The ideal candidate would be well versed in Agile practices, is customer focused, likes building teams, has experience meeting the demands of enterprise customers, and has practical expertise managing Cloud development. This position will require you to collaborate with multiple global cross-functional teams.

We are looking for someone who will effectively leverage and learn from a diverse set of technical backgrounds and opinions by fostering a team-oriented environment and the use of open and direct communications, honesty and respect. The ideal candidate will also actively seek knowledge of new developments in the software engineering, computer engineering, and test automation fields and will identify and pursue process improvement opportunities.

In this position, you will design and develop new software features, participating in the full development lifecycle.  Development is performed in a team environment utilizing sound engineering and software development practices and technology, and typically involves highly complex system design or product architecture design.  Responsibilities include collaborating with and influencing multiple cross-functional teams, as well as technical leadership of a large development team or leading technical aspects of a multi-team project.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the continued development and motivation of a highly productive software development group that consistently delivers exceptional product to our customers - experience building a team and hiring successfully are critical 
  • Responsibilities include engineering process (primarily agile), requirements definition, system design, implementation, design verification, test, and release "owner" of the release and making customers successful 
  • Participating in the creation and execution of product development and delivery strategies - "leader" in the software discipline 
  • Responsible for multifunctional software group of 10-20 employees across multiple locations. 
  • Recruit, develop, and review, department personnel - experience building new teams is critical 
  • Establish and maintain budgets, product development plans, schedules and procedures required to accomplish department and business objectives. 
  • Work with peer managers to develop, implement and continuously improve development processes, ensuring quality products delivered in a timely, predictable manner - "make Rockwell better" 
  • Effective hands-on management required and able to work across teams effectively 
  • Domain expertise in analytics technology and expertise with enterprise class products and solutions 
  • Experience with industrial sectors, delivering version 1.0 products, edge, and cloud strongly preferred 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant degree) OR Equivalent Relevant Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Engineering is desirable 
  • This position typically requires a minimum of 5 years management experience.
  • This position typically 12 years of experience in product development and/or application design
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, testing, and operations 
  • Software development experience on Cloud and Mobile platforms 
  • Object oriented design using C++, C#, or Java 
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, Angular framework, GraphQL 
  • Experience with cloud services like AWS or Microsoft Azure 
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms 
  • Knowledge of software test methodologies and automated test tools 
  • Familiarity with dev-ops software development methods 
  • Software development on both Windows and Linux 
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs  
  • Strong interpersonal and English communication (verbal and written) 
  • Experience in industrial automation software

  • This is a remote position and could be located anywhere in the United States

  • The base salary compensation range for this role in Colorado is $130-$175k with an annual target bonus of 10% of base salary.
