Description

Jefferson County Public Health is seeking an Environmental Health Specialist I or II, depending on experience. This position will perform environmental public health activities within the county. The EHS will conduct sanitation inspections and evaluations as well as code enforcement and technical review. The EHS must have excellent customer service and problem-solving skills. Day to day activities may involve: program specific regulation enforcement, environmental sampling, data analysis, education and outreach, report composition, as well as conducting environmental assessment and monitoring.

Minimum qualifications:

Individual needs to be able to perform this job successfully in each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are listed on the job description, please see attached, and are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:

EHS I: Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university in public health, sanitary science, bacteriology, dairy science, veterinary medicine, engineering, or a basic natural or physical science OR related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EHS II: Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university in public health, sanitary science, bacteriology, dairy science, veterinary medicine, engineering, or a basic natural or physical science and two (2) years as an EHSI, OR related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Hours & Compensation:

EHS I: Full time, 40 hours per week, UFCW position, Grade 30, $22.79-$23.95, DOE with benefits.

EHS II: Full time, 40 hours per week, UFCW position, Grade 32, $24.51 - $25.75, DOE with benefits.
