The Core OS group is looking for a software engineering manager to lead the Flash Storage software team. The Flash Storage Software team works with hardware, silicon, and software partners to develop firmware for SSDs and embedded flash solutions across a wide range of Apple's products. We make extensive use of telemetry and vertical integration with frameworks and Apple File System to optimize our architecture and algorithms for Apple's customers across performance, reliability, durability, and time-to-market!

Key Qualifications

  • Technical leadership on a low-level, algorithms-focused software team
  • Solid C Coding
  • Track record of fostering a data-driven innovation process
  • Solid knowledge of operating system fundamentals and OS interactions with storage
  • Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable addressing all levels from engineers to Senior VPs


Translate customer experience into storage requirements Develop a roadmap to handle the requirements of NAND flash, SoC, Products, and Software Interact with the full stack from app developers to chip designers and silicon suppliers Facilitate the evaluation of tradeoffs in performance/durability/schedule when designing open-ended storage management algorithms Partner with project managers to scope and track multiple overlapping firmware deliverable schedules into OS build trains Strengthen the team by developing and hiring top engineering talent

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

Additional Requirements

  • Additional Preferred Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with the full product lifecycle from architecture, execution, validation, and iteration
  • Leading multi-site teams
  • Experience with developing solid state storage and familiarity with NAND flash hardware
