Description

Position Summary: 

This position will coordinate and support all aspects of the Mechanical Engineering Technology, HVAC-Residential and Mechanical Engineering programs. The coordinator will assist the Chair in managing courses required to meet program demand, monitor student performance, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards. They will assist with developing the academic schedules for each semester, coordinate faculty assignments, and ensure compliance with all accreditation requirements. In addition this position will assist with marketing the program through outreach events, tours, briefings and identify collaboration opportunities with other academic institutions and businesses. The coordinator will assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the department’s lab equipment, and supply management processes, and assist with purchasing and submitting requests for capital equipment.

Principal Accountabilities: 

Assist department chair to oversee the ABET accreditation process for MET program as needed

  • Coordinate with, and assign faculty to, courses and training each semester 
  • Develop and manage annual supply and capital budget requests 
  • Coordinate required laboratory equipment and supplies inventory 
  • Ensure program compliance with all OSHA, safety and environmental requirements 
  • Give tours and presentations to area high school students, guidance counselors and teachers as well as business, government and community leaders as well as business, government and community leaders 
  • Recruit new students through contacts with area high schools, career centers, corporations, and manufacturing organizations 
  • Attend and support Sinclair recruiting and outreach events 
  • Assist department chair to coordinate activities with the College Credit Plus program

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree required; bachelor degree in engineering or engineering technology preferred 
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or engineering; or management, and/or technical field required 
  • Ability to work flexibly and cooperatively with students and faculty in a supportive role required 
  • Technical skills related to understanding, maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical, and fluids power equipment preferred 
  • Ability to professionally communicate and coordinate with outside agencies such as universities, and local industry required 
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks while providing great attention to detail and meeting all prescribed deadlines required 
  • Professional communication skills (both written and oral), telephone etiquette, positive attitude with a strong desire to assist people required 
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel with the ability to learn/utilize and programs/databases used by the college in this role required 
  • Ability to provide superior customer service in a responsible manner by being knowledgeable, supportive, respect and valuing diversity and equity required
