Overview

Our Capital Markets business is an established derivatives dealer with a broad product portfolio, with specific emphasis on interest rates and foreign exchange. We have been in operation for more than 30 years and is a leading market-maker in several markets.

The Risk Management Specialist (Analyst-level) reports to the Head of the Risk Management Department of CM Inc. The Risk Management Specialist will participate in various aspects of risk oversight and analysis for CM, with an emphasis on market risk, liquidity risk and counter party credit risk reporting and project management. The position is on the trading floor and the work environment is fast paced. The person will have direct contact with front office (traders and marketers). Communication of this activity both internally (e.g. by setting risk policies and internal reporting) and externally (by negotiating and reporting to Tokyo Head Office and other SMBC departments in US) and preparation of materials for project management will be a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities
    Assists in conducting independent oversight and review of funding and liquidity management functions.
  • Supports the development and coordination of periodical risk monitoring activities, including liquidity risk.
  • Generates and distributes significant reports on risk management on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.
  • Collaborates on developing and enhancing market and liquidity risk management and risk governance frameworks for the Capital Markets Group.
  • Assists in the communication with Head Office in Tokyo to build up the consistent liquidity and market risk governance framework on an SMBC global basis.
  • Helps to drive forward the effective collaboration for global financial regulation and share the relevant information comprehensively.
  • Applies the analysis and evaluation of new applicable laws/regulations to determine impact on CM's risk management.
  • Produces daily risk analytic reports at the direction of the Market Risk and Analytics Group Head.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of relevant Risk management experience in Financial Services & Banking, especially market risk or liquidity risk.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of U.S. and Japanese regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledge of general banking and specifically risk management frameworks.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of liquidity and market risk and risk analysis.
  • Functional front office banking skills.
  • Builds relationships with senior management across the global organization.
  • Critical thinker: strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate facts, and prepare and present concise conclusions.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization and externally.
  • Strong information technology skills.
  • Japanese bilingual language skills will be preferred.
