Elon University is currently accepting applications for Seasonal Groundskeepers (6 positions available). Each position is full-time, temporary for 9 months. Individuals will work as part of a coordinated team to mow and maintain the landscaping and grounds of the Elon University campus.
The primary objective is the mowing of the campus grounds, assisting with gardeners, and other related property that has to be maintained by our staff. Dependent on experience or training individuals will make up one or two groups that are assigned areas that are their responsibility to be mowed. This also includes trimming, edging, and blowing off of walks and roads.
The operation and maintenance of the equipment is essential to our success as a department. Groundskeepers need to demonstrate the ability to look, listen, and feel if a piece of equipment they are operating is functioning properly. Daily preventative maintenance by operators will ensure the care of their equipment. If there is a problem they are to report it to the manager or mechanic to address it.
Secondarily, groundskeepers are assigned a number of tasks according to the time of year and additional responsibilities delegated by the manager. Tasks range from landscape renovation, fertility program, ground repair, and pine needling.
Perform scheduled maintenance activities to include but not limited to the support of special events, projects, conferences, and other activities hosted on the campus of Elon University. A significant portion of the work may be outside in the vicinity of noisy and hazardous grounds equipment. The interior work environment may be moderately noisy and involve shop maintenance tools, equipment, and lubricants.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Must have a valid NC driver’s license and be insurable the University’s carrier.
