Overview

This position is responsible for providing direct patient care in the Electrophysiology Lab, Cath Lab, and Cath Lab Holding room as a fully functioning member of the multidisciplinary team. In addition, personnel are expected to function and provide high-quality, safe, culturally competent, cost-effective patient care in all areas of operations, through assessment, planning, evaluation, and intervention/follow up. Responsibilities

Applies cultural competence, clear, concise, effective communication practices when collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, physicians, and families.

Continues care in the Cath Lab Holding area to facilitate quality, effective patient care, and demonstrates a consistent commitment to assist in other invasive lab functions to facilitate the operations of the department by: cross-training in multiple areas of the department (Cardiac Cath Lab, Holding Room, Peripheral Vascular Lab, Sheath Removal in other departments, and float as needed to the different modalities in the department).

In the scrub role performs as a first assistant for diagnostic, interventional, and acute procedures. Maintains strict asepsis throughout the course of the procedure. Responds quickly and appropriately in emergencies. Displays effective utilization of supplies and equipment.

Operate specialty equipment.

Participates in EP specific support functions (digital archiving of studies, supply distribution).

Perform control room duties with a working knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures involved in the operation of physiologic monitoring, EP specific monitoring and mapping systems, angiographic/fluoroscopic imaging and digital analysis.

Provide effective, quality, safe care in the circulating role during elective and emergency procedures by assisting patients, physicians, and scrub personnel in a prioritized manner, assuring that all patient, physician, and scrub personnel needs are met.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Required:
Graduate from one or more of the following programs required: Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, sanctioned Cardiovascular Technology Program, sanctioned Paramedic program, an Allied Health Degree or relevant Life/Health Sciences Degree.
OR
A High School diploma may be considered with a minimum of four years of full-time experience as an Electrophysiology Specialist with a current RCES or RCIS certification.
Preferred:
Allied Health Degree or currently pursuing an Allied Health Degree or a Life/Health Sciences Degree or pursuing a relevant Life/Health Science Degree.
Allied Health or Life/Health Science Degree must complete baccalaureate degree within 4 years of hire or position will be terminated.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
1-2 years of Radiology Technical Experience or
1-2 years of Respiratory Therapy Experience or
1-2 years of Paramedic Experience or
1-2 Relevant Electrophysiology Technician Experience
1-2 years of Cath Lab Technical Experience
Preferred:
2 years of Radiology Technical Experience
2 years of Respiratory Therapy Experience
2 years of Paramedic Experience
2 years Electrophysiology Technician Experience
1 year of Cath Lab Technical Experience.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED
Drivers License | Valid Drivers License
Current RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or Current RCES (Registered Electrophysiologist Specialist) if not obtain within 24 months of hire in the Electrophysiology Lab (is required for continued employment).
Graduates of a qualified Cardiovascular program are required to complete RCIS/RCES certification within 3 months of hire.
