Job Description

Bioinformatics Engineer I

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Joe Chan lab in computational biology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is searching for an outstanding Bioinformatics Engineer I interested in working closely with computational biologists and experimental biologists to deploy bioinformatic methods and resources relevant to single cell sequencing and spatial imaging. The focus of this work is the building and maintenance of software tools, pipelines, and resources for integrative analysis of high throughput sequencing and imaging data.

Role Overview:

    Participate in the design, development, and support of computational pipelines for processing and analysis of single cell sequencing and imaging datasets.
  • Implement and follow the best practices in software development, code versioning, software testing, and deployment.
  • Take part in code reviews, build/release management, and other R&D discussions.
  • Develop and maintain robust, highly available/reliable APIs; and contribute toward developing a pathology API service mesh.

Key Qualifications:

  • A master's degree or equivalent experience in biological sciences, mathematics, physics, bioinformatics, or related discipline with a quantitative background.
  • Knowledge of sequencing and imaging technologies and their application
  • Proven experience with computational tools and workflows for the analysis of genomic datasets (including but not limited to next-generation sequencing, single-cell sequencing, and spatial imaging).
  • Strong programming skills and proficiency with scientific computing software and scripting languages such as Python and R.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce well-designed, documented, version-controlled code in a team setting.
  • Solid understanding of Linux (or similar operating systems), HPC, and cloud computing environments

Additional Information:

  • Location: 323 E 61st Street, NYC
  • Reporting to Dr Chan
  • Hybrid Schedule: Onsite 4 days a week

Pay Range: $88,800 - $142,200.
