Overview
This document describes the file format used to submit multiple job postings to LatPro.com.
Job postings may also be made individually using an HTML form. This document is for those preferring to batch their job listings using files rather than using an HTML form for each job.
Because we manually review all the jobs you submit, we do not allow replacement or editing of jobs through this batch mechanism. Jobs may be edited individually online or by contacting customer service. Therefore, send all your jobs every day and set newIndicator to "M" (for maybe). Set close_all_old_jobs to "Y"[explained below] IF you want to close all jobs not included in that Batch file. This indicator will make sure that any job you send gets published and any job you don't send will get closed (we use client position ID as unique identifier).
Processed files, including those files that failed to be processed correctly, will be deleted. The Tracking and BatchId fields explained below should be used to recreate any data that was deleted because of errors.
We really want you to supply an AddEmail email address (like "techContact@somecompany.com"), for someone who will take the time to read any error messages that may get generated by your jobs.
Requirements
Your system must be able to create the comma delimited files with the proper codes and format. Your system must be able to FTP the files to LatPro.com’s site.
Procedures
For development and testing(technical staff only) you should contact Paul Gumerman, psg@cooldog.com for an FTP account and an upload directory to have initial job posting files tested. Paul is your point of contact for any questions regarding this process. Managers or recruiters with requests for additional functionality should contact LatPro's CEO, Eric Shannon, at eshannon @ latpro.com.
Test batches sent into the development system are NOT imported automatically; after uploading them, you must request that they be run. After a test batch has been successfully imported into the development system, you may log into the development web server with your recruiter account (not your FTP account) and check the job postings.
For sending jobs to our production server, you or your client must have a recruiter account already set up. If you have a Standard Account, each posting will generate an invoice; if you have a Plus! Account, discounted job postings are available to you as part of that package.
Data Format
The file is a comma delimited file containing 8-bit characters (allowing for accented characters in the IBM character set).
A comma delimited file uses commas to separate field data. Numeric data may optionally be enclosed within double quotes. String data must be enclosedin double quotes ("). Any double quote within a string must be preceded by a double quote. To send the words Brand "X" you would use "Brand ""X""". Newlines are permitted within a double quoted text field. A data record is collection of comma separated fields ending in a newline.
LatPro does not allow the use of HTML tags within job postings.
File Format
If you are sending jobs on behalf of multiple clients with their own LatPro accounts, each clients' jobs must be sent in a separate file, although they may all be uploaded to your FTP directory.
Filenames are case-sensitive, must be unique, and must end in ".job" and CAN'T contain spaces.
Each file consists of a header record followed by one or more data records. The header record identifies the company contact person using their LatPro.com name (email address), password, batch ID, and a LatPro.Com coupon name. The coupon field may be left blank if there are no coupons to apply. The batch ID is for your use and will be reported back to you if errors occur. It identifies this batch of job postings. The last value indicates whether you want a confirmation message when the batch is processed and everything worked. If it’s ‘Y’ then you’ll receive a confirmation message, otherwise only errors (if any) will be reported. The login name (the LatPro account owner's login id) will be used to mail error reports as well. Error and confirmation reports will also be sent to "techContact@somecompany.com"
. The header record will look something like this:
"mailto:xyz@somecompany.com","xyzzy","5/22/01 12:15:48 PM","CouponName","Y","techContact@somecompany.com"
If no confirmations or error reports should be sent to the LatPro account owner, the following header will suppress confirmation reports, and send error reports only to just the address in the BatchAltEmail header field.
"mailto:xyz@somecompany.com","xyzzy","5/22/01 12:15:48 PM","CouponName","N","","techContact@somecompany.com"
Processing time
Batch posting files are processed at various times. However, files submitted after 4pm Eastern will only be processed on the next day.
