The Opportunity

DAT is looking for Senior Linux Engineer to join our Engineering team in Denver, CO or Beaverton, OR.

In this role you will be part of the Technical Operations team in an enterprise IT organization, providing solutions to achieve business requirements and corporate solutions. You will be required to provide Linux, VMware and Cloud administration. You will also provide technical expertise and assistance to team members. You will review real-time trending information and contact tiered support when necessary. You will also participate in assessing and developing long-term strategic goals for production operating systems versions in conjunction with data owners.

What You'll Do



  • Provide advanced operational support and management of servers, operating systems, and IT support tools/technologies in a production environment.
  • Operating system deployment using vCenter (VMWare) or bare metal.
  • Ability to provide hands-on duties within a DataCenter.
  • Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in IT tools including monitoring, backups, malware control, remote access, inventory management/collection and other related tools.
  • Design and configure IT infrastructure solutions to meet complex business and system requirements by leveraging recommended best practices, organizational governance, ensuring optimization of performance and minimizing risk.
  • Manages system security and permissions in alignment with the IT Security and Compliance Team.
  • Drives root cause analysis and follow up on related action items.
  • Escalation point for patching.
  • Work with users and/or project teams to analyze business needs and develop requirements documentation and project plans.
  • Develop monitoring tools to proactively identify issues before problems arise.
  • Respond to escalated issues, conducts advanced troubleshooting/research and reports on workarounds and resolutions per ITIL-management best practices.
  • Drives standardization of operating system deployment methodologies and application stack deployment methodologies.
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert to other infrastructure engineers as needed to perform advance troubleshooting of operating system and/or applications.
  • Performs installation, configuration, administration, design and tuning of many infrastructure systems and applications (see skills below).
  • On-call unless a planned vacation or PTO time has been communicated with their supervisor.


Technical skills required:



  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a Unix/Linux sys admin, with 4+ years in a Senior role.

    • RHEL 8/ 9
    • Ubuntu
    • CentOS


  • You can demonstrate your scripting skills with:

    • Shell (c, k, bash, etc.)
    • Ansible
    • Python


  • Performed duties as a Senior Linux admin:

    • You have a proven track record of being the "go to" for all other admins.
    • Able to see the big picture and can design an end-to-end solution for our platform.
    • You write the processes and tools other admins use.
    • Proven track record of identifying the best tool for the job.This could be vendor software or you write your own.


  • Strong AWS technical knowledge and hands-on experience:

    • Minimum 4+Years of experience in AWS and Should have strong knowledge in AWS architecture best practices and Operations.
    • AWS Certified "SysOps Administrator" or any equivalent cloud certification is great, but not required.
    • Experience provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running on AWS
    • Ability to identify and gather requirements to define a solution to be built and operated on AWS
    • Experience with using a broad range of AWS technologies (e.g. EC2, RDS, ALB, EBS, EMR, S3, Glacier, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, Security Groups and Lambda) to develop and maintain an Amazon AWS based cloud solution, with an emphasis on best practice cloud security


  • In-depth technical knowledge of internal or external disk devices

    • How to configure different software and/or hardware RAID levels.
    • The difference between NFS and NAS
    • Configuration best practices when setting up ASM LUN's.


  • Expert knowledge of security best practices using CIS and NIST standards.



For Colorado-based candidates, in compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, theminimum salaryfor this role is $130,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
