The Opportunity

DAT Freight & Analytics is looking for a Senior Product Analyst to join our Product Insights Team in either Denver, CO or Beaverton, OR.

The Product Insights (PI) team turns our customer data into the actionable knowledge that builds the most in-demand products in our industry. This is your chance to bring your passion for using data to drive value to our customers, and DAT, at the same time.

Candidate Profile

  • Intellectually curious.
  • A critical thinker, with the determination to rigorously question ideas and assumptions rather than accepting them at face value.
  • Able to turn complex data into a compelling (and accurate) narrative.
  • A productive individual contributor who is also a strong team player.
  • Driven to constantly make things better.
  • Compelled to share new information with those that might benefit from it.

What You'll Do

  • Represent the PI team on a portfolio of DAT's products through every stage of the products' life cycles.
  • Work with key stakeholders to establish meaningful and measurable success metrics for product initiatives.
  • Create tracking plans for new features according to DAT's instrumentation guidelines, work with Product and Engineering teams to get them implemented, and validate the implementations.
  • Provide user-friendly quantitative data analysis and reporting of patterns, trends, and insights deliverables to decision-makers in order to drive product decisions, address product questions, and tell a story through data.
  • Design and implement A/B tests to validate the success of product initiatives.
  • Proactively seek to engage the DAT community in the work that Product Insights does, via product trainings, lunch and learns, etc.
  • Help to create an enduring information asset for the company by actively improving the team's documentation, including adding useful content beyond the results of the work.
  • Identify, create, improve, and document Product Analytics-related standards and actively work to improve them for all involved parties.
  • Apply new perspectives, creative problem solving, and inter-departmental connections to improve analytical capabilities.
  • Share best practices with peers through coaching and mentoring around core methodologies, standards, and processes.

The Skills You'll Need

  • 3+ years of experience in performing reporting and analysis, at least 1 of which is product-focused (e.g., rather than marketing- or sales-focused).
  • A deep understanding of the product instrumentation processes, including experience using product instrumentation tools like Segment or Google Tag Manager.
  • Experience using BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.
  • Fluency with SQL (fluency with a programming language like Python or R is a plus).
  • Experience using ticketing and code management tools like Jira, Bitbucket, or Github
  • A/B testing and experiment design in a product context with tools like Optimizely.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results and recommendations in written, verbal, and presentation form at an appropriate level for a variety of business audiences.
  • Proven excellence in problem solving, research, quantitative analysis, and analytical working techniques.
  • Strong aptitude and desire for learning new platforms and tools.
  • Ability to be responsive to changing business needs, manage and prioritize concurrent assignments, and handle ambiguity.
  • A solid understanding of descriptive and inferential statistical methods.
