Responsibilities
- Function as a dispensing pharmacist while supervising the work of Pharmacy Technicians, Interns, and support personnel.
- Assists with Performance Improvement, Drug Utilization Evaluation, Medication incident reporting, and follow-up.
- Handle compounding and preparation of sterile and non-sterile liquids and solid dosage forms according to USP Standards 795, 797, and 800.
- Handle problems that arise primarily relating to medication dispensing and administration.
- Evaluate the appropriateness of medication orders taking into consideration available clinical information. Assesses and interprets age-specific data to provide care to neonatal, infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of pharmacy services.
- Perform assessments of patients and documents appropriately. Perform nutritional assessments for high-risk patients and documents appropriately.
- Provides kinetic dosing services as requested.
- Maintain a close liaison relationship with nursing staff and physicians. Provides education to physicians, nurses, other hospital staff, and patients as requested.
- Provide on-call service for patients of the facility.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy
- Must be currently licensed to practice Pharmacy in the State of Oklahoma or in the process of reciprocity/taking the licensure exam. Active preceptor's license or ability to become a licensed preceptor within one year of hire and obtaining a pharmacist license
- Maintains board required continuing education
Preferred Job Requirements
- Previous experience in hospital pharmacy including unit dose and IV admixture
