Responsibilities
- Demonstrates professional responsibility in the role of the Unit Secretary.
- Complies with personnel policies and hospital safety policies.
- Maintains confidentiality when interacting with patients, families, personnel and the public.
- Performs duties as directed by the Director of Clinical Service and/or Charge Nurse.
- Reports any problems to the Charge Nurse and/or Director of Clinical Services in a timely manner.
- Performs receptionist/clerical functions including but not limited to, greeting patients and family in courteous manner, answering phones, faxing documents, maintaining patient records and relaying messages in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ability to use a computer, fax machine, copy machine, overhead call system and nurse call system.
- Supports and promotes Infection Control, Safety and Risk Management Programs.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire required.
Preferred Requirements:
- Minimum 6 months experience as a unit clerk/secretary.
