NCSC is looking for an experienced Senior Court Management Consultant with experience in leadership training and development and executive coaching within an education or court environment. This role will serve on the Governance, Leadership and Court Management team and have hands-on responsibilities of project management, leading workshops, creating training as well as budget management. The Senior Court Management Consultant provides advanced, high-level management consulting and technical assistance services to help state and local courts solve their most pressing problems. This role will have the opportunity to lead interdisciplinary teams of consultants, program support specialists, and researchers. Additionally, the Senior Court Management Consultants serve in various leadership roles, increase practice-area expertise, engage in business development opportunities, and support court management consultants in their work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides program oversite and program development for the leadership and executive coaching program, to include providing intake services for new clients as well as tracking contracts and proposals 
  • Develops curriculum for leadership workshop and other training opportunities within the leadership and governance area 
  • Demonstrates conduct that upholds the basic Core Values of NCSC 
  • Provides virtual and on-site technical assistance and management planning support to state and local courts; performs project analyses; identifies needs, issues, problems, and trends and recommends opportunities for improvement; determines data sources and collection methods; compiles and analyzes data and making recommendations for effective management of client organization; presents findings and recommendations to clients
  • Serves as project manager on assigned projects and/or coordinating efforts of project teams; plans, assigns, and coordinates project staff and work efforts; develops project plans, timetables, and staff assignments; trains project team members, as well as assigns and reviews team members’ work; monitors project budget expenditures and prepares and presents monthly project progress reports; manages client expectations and client communications 
  • Prepares business proposals; writes and coordinates development of project reports, presentations, and other deliverables
  • Drafts and reviews scope of work; negotiates scope of work, as well as modifications or extensions of work to be completed, with clients; negotiates work to be completed with outside contractors and consultants, as needed; coordinates internal documents including proposals, contracts, change orders with internal proposal and contract team
  • Markets NCSC services by assisting constituents with technical issues; attends conferences and maintains contact with potential clients and court personnel; represents NCSC at speaking engagements, national meetings, and conferences
  • Prepares NCSC proposals or concept papers for services including designing and developing project methodology, staffing, and cost; presents proposals to prospective clients; negotiates project work plans and costs with clients.
  • Participates in project review meetings and project strategy development meetings
  • Monitors court management developments and initiative, identifies emerging practices, attends training and professional development seminars to stay abreast of court management issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, public policy, judicial administration, law, or a related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience within an education or court environment, managing training and development 
  • Leadership, teambuilding, and executive coaching experience 
  • Curriculum development, education and training experience 
  • Significant experience authoring reports, publications, or other written documents

Additional Skills & Abilities: 

  • Ability to travel to client locations, meetings and/or conferences throughout the United States
  • Represent NCSC in a professional manor; including an ability to establish credibility and to interact productively with staff across the organization and with external stakeholders  
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate timely and professionally with team members, leaders, and clients, both orally and in writing
  • Familiarity with the policy issues impacting local and state judicial systems as well as local and state governments, relevant to specialized areas of this position  
  • A track record of successful proposal writing for federal solicitations and/or state grants 
  • Experience working with complex issues, including an ability to Synthesize and summarize large amounts of information and to focus quickly on the essence of an issue 
  • Experience convening groups of policy makers, practitioners, stakeholders, researchers, and other constituencies with a range of interests and perspectives and support their efforts to develop consensus and move toward a desired outcome   
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to establish credibility and to interact productively with staff across the organization and with others 
  • Ability to communicate ideas, thoughts, and concepts clearly, concisely, and in a compelling way, both in writing and orally with a clear, effective writing and presentation style
  • Demonstrated time- and project-management skills, including an ability to meet multiple deadlines by maintaining a high level of organization while managing several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, adjust to changing circumstances and priorities, remain attentive to details and identify resources for projects
  • Ability to work both collaboratively as a member of a team and independently
  • Strong working knowledge in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

The annual starting salary for this role is between $83,200 - $98,000, factors which affect starting pay within the range include education, experience, and other qualifications as it relates to the position.
