Job Overview

Responsible for supervising activities of the manufacturing are and ensuring that quality products are produced according to the production schedule. Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties



  • Implements departmental plans and regularly updates senior management.
  • Plans and maintains department resources: people, equipment, and materials to ensure on-time attainment of production schedules, at the best cost, and highest quality.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and capacity is in place to achieve production schedules and address priorities.
  • Ensures department meets all Quality Policy requirements. Takes corrective or preventative actions when necessary to avoid or resolve production issues. Is proactive in identifying and implementing quality improvements.
  • Responsible for salary administration, conducting performance appraisals and development plans for direct reports. Coach and counsel members of team to improve team results.
  • Responsible for positive employee relations. Acts as a liaison between employees and management and is responsive to all employee concerns in an efficient and prompt manner. Identifies ways to improve the process through employee involvement.
  • Responsible for training personnel in department procedures and work instructions.
  • Responsible to initiating/writing nonconformance investigations when quality issues occur in manufacturing.
  • Set goals with team, monitors key metrics, and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist and provide technical support on project teams to improve production quality, pursue new ideas, launch new products, etc.
  • Participates in/leads process improvement projects.
  • Participates in Lean/Manufacturing Excellence program.

Minimum Requirements



  • 4 Year technical or business degree is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • A minimum of 2 years supervising or directing work of others is required. Prior experience working in a pharmaceutical or medical device company is highly desirable.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and organizational skills are required.
  • Prior experience writing/performing nonconformance investigations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products or equivalent software application is preferred. SAP experience is preferred. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles are preferred.

Salary: $80K - $88K + Bonus targeted at 8% (depending on overall company performance)
